Nautical Enterprise has built a team of experts to add value to our clients.

Each staff member is an experienced project manager and each is responsible for a mixed portfolio of both commercial and research projects. In this way the Nautical Enterprise team keeps abreast of the rapid developments occurring within the IT, transport and the maritime sectors.


Gerry Trant

Managing Director

Gerry Trant (B.Sc. Chartered Physicist, M.Sc. Eng. Maths, MBA) is the entrepreneurial driving force behind Nautical Enterprise. Gerry began his career as a ships’ officer and progressed into education as university lecturer before founding the Nautical Enterprise Centre in 1999. He is a trusted assessor of European projects and market leader in optimal strategic solutions for maritime logistics. Over the past twenty years he has supervised / been the principal agent in over twenty projects in the following areas: Intermodal Transport Services, Ports and Terminals, Maritime Safety.


Gráinne Lynch

Development Manager

Gráinne LynchGráinne Lynch is a software development management specialist and an advocate of Agile methodologies; she manages the software development team at Nautical Enterprise and assists them to develop applications for designing optimal intermodal networks, analysing macroeconomic cargo data and managing operations and billing functions in ports. Gráinne works closely with international teams of logistics professionals and the European Commission.

Gráinne holds a Bachelor of Science in Software Development and Computer Networking, a Masters of Engineering in Electronic Engineering from the Cork Institute of Technology and a post graduate Diploma in Management from the University College of Dublin Michael Smurfit School of Business.


Aoife Trant

Research Manager

Aoife TrantDr. Aoife Trant completed her PhD studies and Post Doctorial Research in Surface Science at the University of St. Andrews, Scotland, before joining Nautical Enterprise as Research Manager. She is heading up the company’s participation in the co-operative European project ‘SKEMA’, for which she is currently preparing a number of studies for publication and producing the SKEMA book.


Gary O’Connor

Systems Architect

Gary O’Connor holds a Bachelor of Science in Software Development and Computer Networking, a Masters of Engineering in Electronic Engineering from Cork Institute of Technology. Gary is a software engineer and has designed and developed applications for providing location based services over intelligent transportation systems. He is responsible for the development of Nautical Enterprise’s online co-modal decision support software.


Kevin O’Riordan

Technical Analyst

Kevin is a Finance graduate from University College Cork and has been working with Nautical Enterprise as a specialist contractor in the area of international cargo flows since 2008. Kevin is responsible for managing NECL’s extensive trade databases and segmentation of cargo flows for use in transport modelling studies.


Aaron Trant

Consultant

Aaron Trant (BA, CMILT, PMP) has 10 years experience in IT with IBM covering a number of different roles from technical support, business operations, project management, programme management and line management and, most recently, managing the Service Management Competency for IBM in Ireland. He is experienced in leading large European infrastructure projects and global ISC solutions.


James Kehoe

Consultant

James KehoeJames Kehoe has six years experience as a Project Manager and Business Consultant with blue chip companies and progressed into business development for a national consultancy. James also lectures in economics, statistics and engineering management principles at the Cork Institute of Technology. He is responsible for studies relating to intermodal transport modelling under a variety of sensitivities such as financial indicators and policy changes. James holds a Bachelor of Engineering from Cork Institute of Technology together with a Masters of Technology in Engineering and Business from the University of Limerick.


Mary Liddane

Consultant

Mary LiddaneMary Liddane holds a Bachelor of Laws in Law & European Studies and a Master of Laws in European & Comparative Law from the University of Limerick. She is a qualified Solicitor with the Law Society of Ireland and is also a member of the Irish Maritime Law Association, the national branch of the Comite Maritime International (CMI). Her main areas of work concern the legal and policy implications of EU and IMO legislation in the maritime and intermodal transport areas. She also advises on the regulatory framework affecting stakeholders within the maritime transport and logistics industry.


Bénédicte Sage

Consultant

Bénédicte SageDr. Bénédicte Sage (BLaw, PhD Maritime Law) is an expert in European legislation and policy regulating maritime issues. This includes safety at sea (VTMIS and AIS systems), pan-European navigation systems and environmental protection. Bénédicte also lectures in environmental law and French and German law at University College Cork.


Michael Walsh

Consultant

Michael Walsh (Bsc, MBA, Fellow of the Marketing Institute of Ireland (FMII)) is a specialist in marketing. He has worked in sales, marketing and corporate planning in export industries, and he currently lectures in marketing in Cork Institute of Technology and University College Cork.


Bill Kavanagh

Consultant

Capt. Bill Kavanagh (Master, BA, MA, Fellow Royal Institute of Navigation) with twenty years sea-going experience, eight as Master on international voyages. Established and managed the Regional Fishery College in West Cork. Senior lecturer in the National Maritime College of Ireland.
