Since the Act of Union with Britain in 1801, trade between Ireland and Britain has flourished, to the extent that  much of Ireland’s trade with the rest of the world was streamed through Britain. Even today, Britain remains a strong distribution centre for Ireland and the Land Bridge services complement this distribution
